Boarding
At Dusty Paws K9 Ranch, dogs stay in a clean, secure environment where every day includes a healthy balance of exercise, rest, and enrichment. Because we live on the ranch, your dog is never simply dropped off and forgotten—they're cared for by the same person throughout their stay.
We also believe the environment itself matters. Rather than a loud, chaotic kennel, we strive to maintain a calm atmosphere where dogs have clear routines, appropriate outlets for their energy, and plenty of opportunities to settle and relax between activities.
-
Life at the ranch follows a comfortable rhythm, balancing activity with plenty of time to rest and recharge.
The day begins with fresh air and outdoor time before settling in for breakfast. From there, dogs naturally rotate between supervised play, individual enrichment, pasture walks, and quiet downtime. Some dogs spend the day making new friends in carefully matched play groups, while others are happiest exploring the ranch, enjoying one-on-one attention, or simply taking in all the new sights and smells. Every dog's day is shaped around what they enjoy most.
Between activities, dogs return to their own indoor kennel for meals, naps, and time to decompress. These scheduled rest periods help prevent overstimulation while reinforcing the routines many dogs already have at home. For puppies, crate time supports potty training and learning how to settle. For adult dogs, it helps maintain the structure, boundaries, and ability to relax without constant stimulation.
As the day winds down, dogs enjoy one last opportunity to get outside before settling in for the evening. We don't believe dogs need to be entertained every minute of the day. We believe they thrive when their physical and mental needs are met, with the right balance of exercise, enrichment, routine, and rest. Our goal is for every dog to return home happy, relaxed, and ready to settle back into life with their family.
-
Not every dog arrives at Dusty Paws with the same social skills—and that's okay. Some are outgoing and playful. Others are nervous, reactive, or have spent years being told they simply can't be around other dogs.
We don't believe in forcing dogs into situations they're not ready for, but we also don't believe in limiting them by assumptions about what they're capable of.
Many dogs simply need the right environment, appropriate guidance, and introductions that happen at their own pace. Others truly prefer individual activities, and we respect that just as much.
Our responsibility is never to force socialization—it's to create safe opportunities where dogs can succeed.
For some dogs, that means carefully matched play groups. For others, it means individual walks, enrichment, or parallel time around other dogs without direct interaction. In select cases, and only when appropriate, management tools such as basket muzzles and leashes allow dogs to safely build positive experiences they may never have had before.
Because of my background in training and behavior, I enjoy helping owners discover what their dogs are capable of while never losing sight of the most important priority: safety.
Every dog begins with an evaluation so we can determine the best plan for their stay.
-
To help ensure a safe and successful experience, all first-time boarding guests are required to complete an in-person or virtual evaluation before their stay. This allows us to get to know your dog, determine whether Dusty Paws is the right fit, and develop the best plan for their visit.
Boarding guests must:
Be comfortable resting in a kennel during scheduled downtime and overnight.
Be current on Rabies and DHPP (Distemper/Parvo) vaccinations. Vaccine titers are accepted and encouraged when appropriate documentation is provided.
Be in good overall health and free of contagious illness, parasites, or injuries that could affect their safety or the safety of other dogs.
We also strongly recommend that dogs be current on the Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine, as no boarding facility can completely eliminate exposure to airborne respiratory illnesses when dogs share the same environment.
Feeding instructions, medications, emergency contacts, and any additional care details will be reviewed during the onboarding process.
-
Rate: $50 per night, per dog (Multi-Dog Families: $50 for the first dog and $40 for each additional dog from the same family)

What to Expect
3-Week Board and Train
Our flagship 3 Week Board & Train Program is designed for dogs 4 months and older, from puppies building a strong foundation to adult dogs needing advanced obedience, off-leash reliability, or help working through behavioral challenges. Every training plan is tailored to the individual dog and the goals you have for life together.
Training begins by teaching dogs through clear communication, fun games, and positive reinforcement. As dogs gain understanding and confidence, we introduce fair, ethical accountability to create reliable behaviors that hold up in the real world. We don't believe dogs learn through constant correction, nor do we believe they thrive without clear boundaries. We also work to address the emotions and mindset driving behavior—not simply suppress unwanted behaviors with obedience or corrections.
Our goal is to create dogs that understand what is expected and make better choices both during training and long after they return home. While we accomplish a great deal during your dog's stay, lasting success depends on their relationship with you and what happens after they go home. That's why owner education is a core part of every program. We don't simply train your dog—we equip you with the knowledge and confidence to maintain that progress long after they leave the ranch.
-
Our 3 Week Board & Train Program is designed for dogs 4 months and older, from puppies learning the fundamentals to adult dogs needing advanced obedience or behavior modification.
We commonly work with dogs needing help with:
Foundation & Everyday Manners
Basic and advanced obedience
Potty training
Loose leash walking and structured heel work
Recall and off-leash reliability
Impulse control and everyday manners
Behavior & Confidence
Reactivity and overstimulation
Fear and anxiety-based behaviors
Separation anxiety
Resource guarding and aggression
Confidence building
While obedience is an important part of every program, our goal goes beyond teaching commands. We want dogs that are calmer, more engaged with their owners, and able to make better decisions in everyday life—not just during training sessions.
Every program is customized to the individual dog, and additional training weeks are available for dogs who would benefit from more time to build reliability or work through more complex behavioral challenges.
-
Training isn't limited to scheduled lessons, it becomes part of your dog's everyday routine.
Throughout their stay, dogs participate in multiple focused training sessions each day while also practicing those same skills during walks, meals, socialization, rest periods, and everyday interactions. We believe the best learning happens when dogs begin making good decisions throughout the day, not just during formal training sessions.
Between training, dogs have time to rest and decompress before applying those skills again later. This balance helps prevent frustration, keeps dogs engaged, and allows learning to become part of their daily routine rather than a series of isolated exercises.
As training progresses, dogs are gradually introduced to more challenging environments. During the final portion of the program, many dogs accompany us on real-world training outings to places such as parks, pet-friendly stores, and other public settings where we can safely reinforce their new skills around everyday distractions. We want dogs that don't just perform on the ranch—we want dogs that succeed wherever life takes them.
-
From your first phone call to your follow-up sessions after graduation, we're here to guide both you and your dog through every step of the process. Our goal is not simply to train your dog—it's to give you the knowledge and confidence to maintain that progress long after they return home.
Before
Every program begins with a phone consultation to discuss your goals, your dog's history, and whether the program is the right fit. During your in-person evaluation, we'll assess your dog's temperament and current skill level while introducing the lifestyle changes that will set both of you up for success.
Before your dog's arrival, you'll receive personalized guidance, training videos, and simple exercises focused on strengthening your relationship, creating meaningful structure, and building healthy habits at home. We believe lasting success begins before training ever starts.
During
While your dog is with us, you'll receive weekly progress updates, photos, videos, and ongoing communication so you can follow their journey. You'll also receive instructional videos demonstrating each obedience skill your dog is learning, allowing you to begin learning alongside them.
This preparation allows us to spend your go-home session applying those skills to your dog, your lifestyle, and your individual goals—instead of teaching everything from scratch.
After
At the end of the program, we'll spend several hours together during an in-depth go-home session where you'll learn how to confidently handle your dog and maintain their training in everyday life.
You'll also receive customized training videos and a detailed guide outlining how to continue building on your dog's progress at home. Your program includes mandatory follow-up sessions one week and three weeks after graduation, plus unlimited virtual support whenever questions arise or you need additional guidance.

Remote collar training is included as part of our Board & Train Program when appropriate for the dog and goals we are working toward.
At Dusty Paws, remote collar training is approached thoughtfully, ethically, and with the dog’s wellbeing in mind. The remote collar is never used as a shortcut or punishment, but rather as a communication tool that helps create clarity, accountability, and reliability—particularly for off-leash freedom, recall, impulse control, and working through certain behavioral challenges.
Our goal is to create a dog that understands expectations and can confidently make better choices both on and off leash. Owners are thoroughly educated on proper use during the go-home session to ensure confidence, consistency, and long-term success.
All dogs enrolled in the program go home with a high-quality Mini Educator remote collar by E-Collar Technologies, included in the cost of training.

Details
Our 8-Day Off-Leash Program is designed for owners who want the confidence to enjoy hikes, camping, parks, and everyday adventures with a dog that reliably comes when called.
Like our Flagship Board & Train Program, training begins with clear communication, positive reinforcement, and helping dogs fully understand the recall command before introducing fair, ethical remote collar conditioning. Reliable off-leash freedom isn't built by simply adding an e-collar—it's built through communication, consistency, and trust.
Throughout the program, dogs gradually progress from low-distraction training environments to increasingly challenging real-world situations, learning to recall reliably around everyday distractions. Every training plan is tailored to the individual dog, with safety and long-term success guiding every step of the process.
By the end of the program, owners leave with the knowledge, equipment, and confidence to continue building reliable off-leash habits long after training is complete.
