Boarding
At Dusty Paws K9 Ranch, we offer small-scale boarding for dogs with a wide range of personalities, backgrounds, and care needs. Whether your dog loves making friends, prefers a quieter routine, or requires additional management, we work to make their stay safe, comfortable, and enjoyable.
Our background in professional dog training and veterinary care allows us to accommodate needs that may be difficult to manage in a traditional boarding setting. With a maximum of eight dogs, a clean, climate-controlled facility, and owners living on-site, we're able to maintain a calm environment and stay closely involved in the care of every guest.

Life at the ranch follows a comfortable rhythm, balancing outdoor activities with plenty of time to rest and recharge.
The day begins with outdoor time before breakfast. From there, dogs rotate between supervised play, enrichment, pasture walks, and quiet downtime. Some enjoy spending time with carefully matched playgroups, while others prefer exploring the ranch or enjoying activities away from other dogs.
Between activities, dogs return to their indoor kennels for meals, naps, and time to decompress. These scheduled rest periods help prevent overstimulation and maintain familiar routines. For puppies, crate time also supports potty training and learning to settle.
As the day winds down, dogs enjoy another opportunity to get outside before settling in for the evening. Our goal is for every dog to return home happy, rested, and ready to settle back into life with their family.

Not every dog is a good fit for a traditional boarding kennel, and that's something we understand. With years of experience in professional dog training and veterinary medicine, we're comfortable working with dogs who require additional care, management, or a different approach to their stay.
Dogs with behavioral considerations: We welcome inquiries for dogs with anxiety, fear, reactivity, resource guarding, and other behavioral challenges. Dogs are never required to participate in group play, and we can provide separate activities, enrichment, and outdoor time when appropriate.
Dogs with established training: We understand how important consistency is for dogs who have completed professional training. We're happy to maintain established routines, boundaries, and handling practices during their stay, working with owners and their trainers when needed.
Senior dogs and medical needs: Our veterinary assistant background allows us to confidently care for many senior dogs and those requiring medications, additional monitoring, or special routines. Medical needs are reviewed before booking to ensure we can safely accommodate them.
Intact dogs: We welcome intact males and females, with appropriate management and socialization decisions based on each dog's age, behavior, and circumstances.
*Intact dogs are welcome on a case-by-case basis. Per Colorado PACFA regulations, intact dogs over 18 months of age cannot participate in group play with dogs from other households. Females in heat may be subject to additional restrictions or may not be accepted.
Our approach to socialization: We don't believe in forcing dogs into interactions they're uncomfortable with, but we also don't automatically rule out social opportunities based on a dog's history. When appropriate, carefully managed introductions and matched groups allow dogs to enjoy positive experiences. Others may be happiest with separate activities, and that's perfectly fine.
Every new guest completes an evaluation before their first stay so we can understand their needs, discuss any concerns, and determine whether Dusty Paws is the right fit.

All first-time boarding guests are required to complete an in-person or virtual evaluation before their stay. This gives us an opportunity to learn about your dog's behavior, health, routines, and any special considerations so we can determine whether Dusty Paws is a safe and appropriate fit.
Boarding guests must:
Be comfortable resting in a kennel or indoor run during scheduled downtime and overnight.
Be current on Rabies and DHPP (Distemper/Parvo) vaccinations. Vaccine titers are accepted and encouraged when appropriate documentation is provided.
Be in good overall health and free of contagious illness, parasites, or injuries that could affect their safety or the safety of other dogs.
We also strongly recommend that dogs be current on the Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine, as no boarding facility can completely eliminate exposure to airborne respiratory illnesses when dogs share the same environment.
Feeding instructions, medications, emergency contacts, and any additional care details will be reviewed during the onboarding process.

Rate: $50 per night, per dog (Multi-Dog Families: $50 for the first dog and $35 for each additional dog from the same family)
Holiday Boarding: An additional $10 per dog, per night applies during designated holiday periods due to increased demand. Holiday reservations may require a deposit and are subject to a separate cancellation policy due to limited availability.
All-Inclusive Pricing: Our nightly rate includes daily exercise, outdoor activities, enrichment, and all standard boarding care. No surprise charges for playtime, walks, or extra attention. The price you see is the price you pay.
Drop-Off & Pick-Up Hours: All drop-offs and pick-ups are by appointment only and must take place during operational hours of 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM. In order to maintain a calm, structured environment for the dogs in our care, arrivals and departures outside of these hours are not permitted.

What to Expect
3-Week Board and Train
Our 3-Week Board & Train Program is designed for dogs 4 months and older, from puppies learning their first commands to adult dogs building stronger obedience, better manners, and reliable off-leash skills.
But good training is about more than teaching commands. We focus on building engagement, clear communication, and a stronger relationship between dogs and their owners. Through positive reinforcement, play, consistent boundaries, and practical obedience training, we help dogs learn to work with their people and respond reliably in everyday situations.
Owner involvement is an essential part of the process. Along with training your dog, we'll help you understand how to communicate clearly, maintain their new skills, and continue building on their progress at home.

Our Board & Train Program is a great fit for puppies and adult dogs who need a stronger foundation in obedience, engagement, and everyday manners.

Every dog begins with an evaluation to discuss their current skills, training goals, and whether the program is the right fit.
Please note: This program focuses on obedience and relationship-building rather than intensive behavior modification. Dogs with significant aggression, severe anxiety, or other complex behavioral concerns may be better suited to a specialized behavior modification program.

Before Training
We begin with a phone consultation and evaluation to discuss your goals, your dog's current skills, and what you'd like to accomplish. Before their arrival, you'll receive preparation materials and guidance to help establish good habits at home.
During Training
Your dog will participate in multiple training sessions each day, with opportunities to practice their new skills during walks, play, and everyday activities. Training is balanced with exercise, enrichment, and plenty of rest.
You'll receive regular progress updates, photos, videos, and instructional resources to help you begin learning alongside your dog.
After Training
At graduation, we'll work together during an in-depth go-home session (up to two hours) to teach you how to handle your dog and maintain their progress.
You'll also receive a detailed go-home guide, training videos, follow-up sessions at one and three weeks, and unlimited virtual support for questions along the way.

Remote collar training may be incorporated into our Board & Train Program when appropriate for the dog and their training goals, particularly for building reliable recall and off-leash freedom.
We begin by teaching skills through positive reinforcement, clear communication, and repetition before introducing the remote collar as an additional communication tool. Our approach emphasizes understanding, fairness, and responsible use rather than relying on corrections to teach new behaviors.
Owners receive instruction on proper use during their go-home session, and a Mini Educator remote collar by E-Collar Technologies is included in the program price.

Our three-week program combines professional obedience training, daily practice, and owner education to build practical skills that carry over into everyday life. Boarding, training equipment, preparation materials, go-home instruction, and follow-up support are included.

How We Train
We begin by building engagement and teaching recall through play, positive reinforcement, and clear communication. Once your dog understands the command, we carefully introduce remote collar conditioning to strengthen reliability at a distance.
Training gradually progresses to more challenging environments and distractions around the ranch, helping prepare your dog for real-world adventures.
Is This Program Right for Your Dog?
This program is best suited for dogs who need stronger recall and better off-leash communication. It is not designed to address significant aggression, severe reactivity, or other complex behavioral challenges. All dogs are evaluated before enrollment to ensure the program is a good fit
Transportation Services
Getting your dog to and from the ranch shouldn't be a hassle! We offer transportation options for boarding and training clients to make their visits a little more convenient.
Transportation is available by appointment, typically at a convenient meeting location determined by distance and availability. Clients must visit the ranch with their dog at least once before using this service.
